Remind Me: Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Remind Me helps you turn what you say into to-dos, notes and reminders. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short, your information stays on your phone unless you choose to share it.
What stays on your phone
To-dos, notes, people, categories, words, settings and reminders are stored only on your device. Remind Me has no accounts, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking. We don't collect, sell or rent your data.
Microphone and speech
- Listen button. When you tap Listen, the app uses your device's Google speech recognition, the same service as your keyboard's voice typing. Google may process that audio on its servers to produce text, under Google's privacy policy. Remind Me keeps only the resulting text.
- Always listening (optional, off by default). Detecting the trigger phrases ("remind me", "take a note") happens entirely on your device. After a trigger phrase, the next few seconds are converted to text on your device by Google's on-device speech recognition (or a built-in model). Audio is never uploaded, and isn't saved unless you make a troubleshooting test recording, which stays on your device. Transcripts are kept on the device for 30 days so you can review them, then deleted. A visible notification shows while it's on.
- Voice match (optional). A voiceprint, a set of numbers describing your voice and not a recording, is stored only on your device. It is never backed up or shared.
Sharing with a partner (optional)
If you turn on sharing, only the to-dos and notes you mark as Shared are sent to the person you pair with. They are encrypted on your device (AES-256-GCM) with a key that exists only on your two devices, so neither we nor our service providers can read them. Encrypted items pass through a mailbox on Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) and are deleted as soon as the other device receives them, or within 31 days if never collected.
Each device signs in to Firebase anonymously, with no name, email or phone number. To deliver changes promptly, a content-free "check for updates" push message is sent through Expo's push notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can stop sharing at any time, which removes the shared mailbox.
Subscription and payments
Remind Me is free for 30 days, then a monthly subscription. Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play: we never see your card or payment details. Google tells the app only whether your subscription is active, and you can cancel any time in the Google Play Store.
Feedback (optional)
We don't collect analytics or usage data. If you tap Send feedback in Settings, your own email app opens a message to us containing a few questions and a summary you can read and edit first: device model, app version, your settings, and counts (such as the number of to-dos, or how often always-listening caught a phrase). It never includes what you said or wrote, and nothing is sent unless you send the email.
Backups
- Your device's backup. Android's built-in backup (Google One / Google backup) includes the app's to-dos, notes, people and settings, encrypted by Google, so they can be restored to a new phone. It excludes sharing keys, the voiceprint and always-listening transcripts.
- Backup files you create (Settings โ Backup & restore) are saved where you choose. They aren't encrypted, so keep them private.
App updates
The app checks Expo's update service for new versions when it opens. This sends technical information (such as the app version and device platform), not your content.
Deleting your data
Settings โ Privacy โ Delete everything removes all of your data from the device, stops sharing and cancels all reminders. Uninstalling the app also deletes it from the device.
Children
Remind Me isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
